Dosha Skin Care Routine

| Discovering Myself in My Dosha |

These recipes were created by: Dr. Pratima Raichur

And this is where I begin. With my skin. Each dosha-specific skincare recipe is delicately formulated to address the issues that each type experiences, providing the needed nutrients to counteract imbalances. The kapha-pacifying cleanser, nourisher and moisturizer are designed to exfoliate the skin’s excess oil and blocked pores, penetrate the depths of clogged pores, and lightly moisturize skin tissue to combat loss of oil and prevent scarring.

To cleanse:
Mix 1 tsp. barley meal + 1 tsp. lemon peel + ½ tsp. dry milk. Store in a spice jar.
In your palm, make paste using ¼ tsp. of mixture + warm water.
Apply paste all over face and neck and gently massage into skin for about one minute. So not scrub. Rinse well with warm (not hot) water. Do not dry. (Do not use soaps or astringents containing alcohol to reduce oils.) If you have whiteheads, wash first with a paste made of ¼ tsp. neem powder + 1 pinch sugar + warm water. Then follow steps as above.

To nourish:
Mix 1 oz. sunflower oil + 10 drops lavender oil + 5 drops each bergamot and clary sage oil. Store in dark glass bottle with a dropper.
In the palm of your hand, mix 2 drops of nourishing oil (above) + 4 drops water (replace 4 drops of water with 4 drops of liposome liquid).
While skin is wet, gently massage all over face and neck for about one minute.

To moisturize:
Melt 1 oz. cocoa butter in double boiler. Add 3 oz. almond, safflower, or canola oil. Remove from heat. Using a dropper, add 2 oz. rosemary or basil tea one drop at a time, while stirring the mixture. When it’s cool, add 1 drop camphor oil + 2 drops bergamot oil + 3 drops lavender oil.
Gently apply a very small amount of moisturizer over face and neck. Do not massage it into skin. Use once in the morning and evening only.

To exfoliate:

Weekly Fruit Face Mask: Strawberry or Papaya Pulp

Do normal cleansing routine only. Apply pulp to face and neck and lie down for 15 minutes with legs raised to increase blood supply to face. Rinse with water then finish with normal nourishing and moisturizing routine.
